Bucky The Weight are in total control of the superb Classic rock vibes. Sweet down-home charm wrapped up in warm melody, progressive edge and universal accessibility. Let this one wash over for a while and you’ll see what I mean. Favorite track: Pursuit of Happiness.

paul rote This album is top notch seventies style fm radio rock. This would have been huge 40-45 years ago . Probably a multiple hit album . It reminds me of Foreigner , Boston, Styx , Kansas , etc . But all the while retaining their own identity. Do not miss this album! Favorite track: Explosion.

A few years ago a new band appeared on the Austrian music scene. What they had to offer seemed somehow different from most of their colleagues, although, it was clearly rooted in what we consider Retro Rock. Hence, one could think of two different scenarious, most likely to happen: THE WEIGHT would either disappear like so many of the 60s and 70s nostalgia bands that pop up only to vanish immediately or they would use the momentum to establish themselves as the highly acclaimed act they are today. Luckily, THE WEIGHT chose to opt for the latter. But as we know the road for rock acts in today's music scene tends to be long and dusty and therefore, during the past two years THE WEIGHT have had to prove their will and stamina: constant touring, countless interviews and many live and studio sessions formed a band that appears to finally be ready for the next bold step that will define their musical career.
IN CONTROL, the title of their new full length studio record seems like the embodiment of this insight and at the same time, given the volatility of today's music business and the impuissance of an independent act like THE WEIGHT, it almost seems like a bitter and sarcastic inside view. Kindly, THE WEIGHT leave no doubt that there is more truth to the title than one could believe at first glance: "The times may be hard for musicians like us, but if you've got some skills you can do it pretty much by yourself. During the production of our latest record we were in full control of almost every creative and technical procedure. I guess that's what makes it pure and real but, of course, there is also one downside: You can't rely on other people's work. The decisions are all up to you which means that there will be no one to blame when it turns out badly."
Consequently, the new THE WEIGHT record sounds even more particular than its predecessor. The four musicians wrote music that no longer seems to be regardlessly classifiable. Songs like A Little Bit of Music still breathe the same air as Hard Way from the first album, but one can sense the now completed absence of compromise and dither. "The new record does mirror the events of the past few years. We have grown as men as we've done as musicians. I think we wouldn't have had the guts to record songs like Almost Gone or Down the Line three years ago. Now we do" Therefore, what strikes most about IN CONTROL is the variety of its musical ideas and identities that share a common ground in the work of four individuals to create something that is more than the sum of its parts.

Track Name: A Little Bit Of Music
You work in the nightshift
It's blood, sweat and tears
Hungry eyes watch marching years
Power to the people
It's an echoe from the past
Did you think that it would last?
And you close your eyes, you drift away
It's music, sweet music running through your veins
On the top of the iceberg
Everything looks fine
Never mind the water line
Who would cross the ocean
For a heart of gold?
Hearts are being bought and sold
And I close my eyes, I drift away
Music, sweet music running through my veins
And it's music, sweet music
Music, sweet music
Music, sweet music
Music, sweet music
Track Name: Explosion
Love me till the thrill is gone
Love me till I can't go on
Don't ask too many questions
And when nightfall comes
I'm gonna sing the boogaloo
I'm gonna sing it
Sing it loud, loud and clear
I'm gonna sing it
Sing it loud, loud and clear
Loud and clear
Fool me right from the start
Fool me for the pain in my heart
Is kinda killing me baby
Is it hard to concieve?
I've spent a long time on my own
And what goes up
- when you see me dancing -
Must come down
- dancing in the sky -
What goes up
- i'ts kinda dragging me down
Must come down
Track Name: Night in Space
All night long I'm sitting here
I sit and watch the tide
I'm lonely
And deep inside
I'm hungry for your company
You set the course
I don't mind
Where you're taking me
Tonight
Find out what's beyond the secret
Push it while you can
Chase it through a starry night
Make me understand
We do it for the moment
Don't let it slip away
You set the course
I don't mind
Where you're taking me
Tonight
I don't care what the people tell me
I don't care what it's all about
Let me see the vivid colours
I want to reach above the clouds
Let me see it in a different way
A way that's free to choose
You set the course
I don't mind
Where you're taking me
Tonight
Tonight
Tonight
We're the chosen ones
We're the chosen ones
We're the chosen ones
Track Name: Operator
When you get up in the morning
And you feel a little spleen
You can't find a trace of purpose
On your color TV screen
You gotta stay cool
Just follow the rules
Like all the hip folks do
You gonna see it through
Cause when you're sitting round in circles
And you're staring at the door
You better call the operator
It's 0197684
You gotta stay cool
Just follow the rules
He must be on his way
Ready to save the day
The operator
The operator
Give it a try
Send me a smile
It might come back around
Kick off your shoes
Stop singing the blues
And turn it upside down
And turn it upside down!
Give it a try
Send me a smile
It might come back around
Kick off your shoes
Stop singing the blues
And turn it upside down
The operator
The operator

Track Name: Pursuit of Happiness
Look at you now
What have you become?
Look at you now
What have you become?
Do what you do
I ain't got much to resist
Do what you do
And I put it on my list
That's what you call happiness
Your pursuit of happiness
Aces and kings
Seems like they never let you down
So dance around in your castle high
You king without a crown
That's what you call happiness
Your pursuit of happiness
Old crock you're a liar
You talk a lot but you're asleep
Old chap you're a killjoy
And you're digging in too deep
You look a little tired
Take a sip, get a grip and follow me down
I show you around...
Track Name: Why do you try so hard?
Why do you try so hard?
Let's get back to the start
Pick up the pieces, you'll see
How it's meant to be
Where the ocean meets the sand
Don't be afraid to care
The key to your memory
Lost in your childhood misery
Who's gonna take the blame?
No need to feel so ashamed
Where the ocean meets the sand
Don't be afraid to care
And think of me
Brother, oh brother
Back to the start
Still you got a hungry heart
Sister, oh sister
Back in the ring
Ready to take another swing
Don't try so hard
There's one thing I'd like to know
One thing before I go
Why do you try so hard?
Get back to the start
Where the ocean meets the sand
Don't be afraid to care
And think of me
Track Name: Down the Line
Oh what a lonely place
Footprints
Must lead the way
Oh what an empty space
Reflecting what lies burried
In the past
We run down so many dreams
More than we can count
To turn into a memory
I'm almost sand and sound
Oh what a lonely man
Sits there on his throne
Oh what a great dispair
Sits there, Sits there
I feel I've been here before
A thounsand years ago
Old man
won't you come down from your throne
And take me down the line
Take me down the line
Take me down the line
All the things we do and say
Must fade away
Take me down the line
Take me down the line
Take me down the line
Take me down the line
Wherever you go
Wherever you roam
Think of me
Whatever you say
Whatever you play
Play it to me
All the things we do and say
Come back around one day
One day
Track Name: Victory
Running round, nowhere to go
What's that sound? Go with the flow
The feeling is good, the feeling is nice
Just like it should be
Nice
Badabababa
Badabababa
The times they are a changing
I heard a young man sing
But what about my life?
Beyond the desert mountain
That stands before me
There's must be the land of the free
I've been climbing a lifetime
Of bitter pills and pain
But no one would hear my complain
Badabababa
Badabababa
Where am I supposed to go?
I got my bag and a street to roam
Once you're being pushed around
You start to notice life's a roundabout
Badabababa
Badabababa
Running round, nowhere to go
What's that sound? Go with the flow
The feeling is good, the feeling is nice
Just like it should be
Nice
Track Name: Almost Gone
Help me, I'm breaking
Apart in front of your eyes
Nothing could ever save us
Help me, I'm losing my mind
You're almost gone
You're almost gone
You're almost gone
Gone, gone, you're almost
Our memories and stories
Echoe of yesterday's chime
Nothing could ever save us
Help me, I'm losing my mind
You're almost gone
You're almost gone
You're almost gone
Gone, gone, you're almost
Gone with the wind
Gone with the tide
Gone with the one thing that's so hard to find
Gone with my love
Gone with my heart
Gone with a future that tears me apart
Track Name: Better Days
Today it hit you hard
Almost ripped your heart apart
If you'd let them, they would take it all from you
They lack your beauty and your style
Lord, they hate to see you smile
So keep that smile upon your face and do your thing
You've had better days
I still love your ways
Don't give up on me
I won't give up on me
We change the future, we change the past
We change the colour of your mask
Changing it all might be the task
But as we tumble down the line
Of duration and decline
We keep that smile upon our face, we do our thing
You've had better days
I still love your ways
Don't give up on me
I won't give up on me
Sometimes I go out and I take a look
I see the world in the hands of the cruel and the crooked
Sometimes there's a friend but I feel all alone
All alone, but there will be better days
